Dancing Itik-Itik

Last January 15, 2011, the Filipino Community here in Germany celebrated the Sinulog. For the sake of those who do not know about what it is, Sinulog is a festival that honors the vision of the child Jesus, known as the Santo Niño (Holy Child), who used to be the patron Saint of the City of Cebu in the Philippines (since in the Catholic faith Jesus is not a saint, but God). It is a dance ritual that commemorates the Cebuano people's Islamic and pagan origin, and their acceptance of Roman Catholicism.

And we have a version of the Sinulog here in Germany too. Because my parents are active in the Sto. Nino Group, a Catholic religious community here, we little children are also expected to take part in the festivities and so we decided to do a dance number for the program.

This little something is for all the Filipinos who came from all over Germany on that day. And it is a Filipino folk dance called Itik-Itik. I am the one in the short hair and wearing the red traditional Filipino dress.

What Is Itik-Itik? It is a mimetic dance that depicts the movements of wading and flying itik (ducks). Dancers mimic the short swaying gait of waddling feet and the intense energy of close-cropped flapping wings.

I Am Snow White!

I love to play dress up! Mommy got some hand me down clothes from our friends a few weeks ago and when she took them out to wash, I found this little Snow White tutu costume which I insisted that Mommy put on me.

And while watching Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs on DVD, I was dancing and singing too! It was fun to learn about Sneezy, Dopey, Doc, Grumpy, Sleepy, Happy, and Bashful, the bad Witch Queen and the Magic Mirror that never lies.

Please excuse my mess and focus more on my dancing.. hihi!

How Old Am I?

I love talking to my Mommy. We could just sit together for hours on end and talk about anything under the sun. Of course, she still can't understand what I am mumbling but she looks interested and seems to understand. One time she asked me how old I am. And guess what my answer was?

I Can Dance

I had so much fun with my children's songs because I can now dance. Look at me dance to the tune of my nursery songs. It is so much fun and Mommy enjoyed watching me dance. If you want to be entertained, just click on the video.

Ready to Strut my Stuff!

My knees are still wobbly but I am loving this new discovery of using my feet to move around the house. And I was able to make my first 8 strides, crossing the distance between our couch and the TV last Saturday, a couple of hours after I wrote a post about me not being able to walk yet. Daddy was watching Formula 1 on TV and Mommy was in the shower when it happened. Oh yes, Daddy saw me FIRST!

One, two, three... Walking is such exciting discovery!
And I was kicking my little soft ball too!
Maybe I'll make one great soccer player someday?

Isn't it lovely and funny how things unfold... and how surprising and unexpected life can be? As I have said before, I am in no rush to walk but Papa Jesus held me up and helped me to walk on my own two, happy little feet. My Mommy and Daddy were so delighted so that they couldn't take the camera off their hands just in case I would do another surprising thing. Hehehe!

Ich Liebe Hello Kitty!

Oh yes, I love Hello Kitty! Mommy would sing me the song of the TV program in her "barok" way and I would go dancing! I just enjoy watching Hello Kitty, My Melody, Badz Manu and Cinamonroll do their antics. And I think they are really good friends who know to lift up each other's spirits when they are down, accept their differences and have fun! Too bad we didn't get to visit Sanrio Puroland in Tokyo before we left. I guess it's okay because I can't appreciate and enjoy the sights as much yet because I am still too young. When I'm older and can already walk, I'll ask Mommy and Daddy to take me there.

Anyway, Mommy took this video of me while watching the Hello Kitty program as it starts. And my, I was really dancing and stomping my feet! Hihihi!

Baby You Can Drive My Car!

Hello everyone! It is a fine Wednesday and I hope you are all well.

Well, I was learning how to drive a few nights back and Mom had me sit on her lap so that I can hold the steering wheel better. I even tried to make vroom-vroom sounds! Hehe! Who knows, I might become an F1 driver someday!

Driving seriously. Will I pass for an F1 driver?

A Delightful Thing

Last night, while playing with my Mommy, I was finally able to clap my hands on my own. Mommy has been singing "Clap your hands" to me for ages and she was so happy that I can finally do it on my own! And I am so happy too! I find clapping to be a very delightful thing to do that I do it every so often! Hearing my own hands make those clapping sounds just delight me so!

Babbling Me

Come Dance With Me

It's dance time once again! Or maybe not! I don't know if you would call this a dance... it's more like bouncing! And there really wasn't any music playing. The TV was on and daddy was busy with the computer. Mommy was cheering and teasing me along. But it was fun... My apologies to daddy for dancing-bouncing so hard, I must have hit his ummm... (toothy grin!)

Fun With Elmo

Here's something to brighten up your day. Hope you enjoy this video of Elmo entertaining me. This was taken at Mommy Sara's home in Tokyo.
