When I Was Sick...

Feeling unwell with my IV on. It was uncomfortable and it hurt!

I was sick a few weeks back. I had high fever, which went as high as 39.2°C, vomited multiple times and had no appetite. I had to be admitted on the fourth day since I had my fever because I was already getting dehydrated. The pedia suspected it might be the Sweinflu so me and Mommy were quarantined in my hospital room in Klinikum Ludwigsburg, which by the way has a beautiful view outside.

A section of the hospital as viewed from my room.

I fell sound asleep after they took my IV out.
I got exhausted because I was crying and was afraid of the nurse.

They took saliva, mucus and blood samples from me for testing for the Sweinflu virus. Thankfully, the results came in negative and they took off my IV dextrose on the second day. On the third day, I was discharged with a clean bill of health.

Eating a little... Mommy was happy to see me munching on something.
Dad calls my Nesquik cereals dog food because they look like dog food!
They are round and brown and look really like dog food. Love it though!

Finally managed to smile for my Mommy. Look at my small face!

I was all dressed up and very eager to go home.
Waiting for Daddy to arrive has made me impatient.

I don't want to go back to the hospital again and be hooked to the I.V. I hope I won't get sick that bad again! I wish you are all well too! God bless everyone!

An Ear Infection and A Name as Old As Time

I am sick with a very runny nose and an ear infection. Mommy and Daddy brought me to my pedia yesterday morning because I have been screaming and crying the previous night. That would explain my absence from this blog. But I am feeling a little less cranky now. In fact, I am able to sleep soundly last night, thanks to my Mommy who religiously gives me my nasal drops every four hours so that I could breath easier. And last night, I tried to eat an apple and only ended up squishing it with my hands because chewing proved to still be painful.

Biting on an apple and realizing that chewing still feels "Ouch!"

Anyway, here is something that really made my day. I was tagged by Mommy Niko of Niko's Blog with this What's Your 1950's Name? thing and my name then sounded quite funny. My name now sounds better, thanks to my Mommy and Daddy who chose it for me.

Your 1950s Name is: Peggy Glenda

What's buzzin, cuzzin?

As an added bonus, I also got an award from her. Thanks Mommy Niko for considering my blog to be one that makes you smile! Hugs to you!

Now, allow me to pass on the What's Your 1950's Name? thingy and the Your Blog Makes Us Smile award to:

Jetlagged and Sick

Yes, I am still sick until today. Mommy is getting worried since it's already Friday. We went to the emergency clinic last night and saw the doctor. They said my condition is getting better and that it would be okay to travel as long as I don't get tired and stressed out. So here I am, sleeping... but my sleep isn't very peaceful because I would just suddenly cry and wake Mommy up. I am so not feeling very well and I have lost a lot of weight. I wish to be well soon so that I won't cry the entire flight to the Philippines.

The happy little baby... deep in slumber.

I Caught The Stomach Flu! :(

Yes, I caught it last 27th, the day we traveled for Kyoto. I must have caught it the night before but the virus only took effect during our trip. Mommy and Daddy were so worried because I would vomit everything that I take in - milk, water and baby food. But I did not cry like most babies would when they feel discomfort. I just acted as if nothing happened and slept my way through the trip. Then, when we arrived at our hotel, I just played with my toys and my mommy as if nothing is wrong with me. But I guess the symptoms can never be denied and I was becoming weak with lack of enough fluid in my body.

That evening, mommy and daddy decided to bring me to the emergency hospital. The doctor just gave me a prescription for the vomiting and for the flu in my stomach. Then they ran a few tests by giving me some milk little by little. When the doctor saw that I was still vomiting the milk out, he decided to put me on dextrose so that I won't get dehydrated. I cried and wailed a lot when they put the IV on me because it was sooo painful. The nurses cannot find my veins and as mommy would say, "They turned my poor little baby into a pin cushion." Huhuhu! Four tries and a lots of screaming and wailing and crying after, the IV is finally hooked into my left hand and the dextrose was running smoothly through my veins. Exhausted, I drifted off to sleep in my mommy's loving arms who later on, laid me down in bed. It was 4AM almost when we left the hospital and mommy and daddy were so exhausted from the road trip and the trip to the hospital.

At the hospital. They had to hook me to the dextrose to keep me from dehydrating.

I'm still sick right now but my condition is getting better. I vomit only once and gained some appetite. Also, mommy let me play around the house in my walker so that I get to enjoy and exercise. Nope, I don't look like I am sick at all but I sure did lose some weight!
